Lim Heejae
Lim Heejae explores through painting the human possessiveness and the dilemma of representation that is revealed in the process of refining the concept of nature. He focuses on the method of exhibiting life forms that have been stuffed, reproduced, and become still, upon separating them from the spatial and temporal and ecological contexts. It reminds the space and time erased from images that are displayed in a fixed state while embracing movement, and connects the attitude of consuming it with the imperfect images of the contemporary era and the desire to own images. In addition, in the process of transferring the subject onto the painting, it seeks the contradictory possibilities of fluidity and expansion of the halted image at a point where deformation and distortion is inevitable as things are being transferred onto a flat surface and pass through a vitreous body.
