Kim Suyeon

Kim Suyeon's work is reconstructed and directed into images of objects by repeatedly collaging images that imitate or borrow from reality. A gigantic balloon is twisted and flattened like a deflated balloon, and marble fragments are transformed into crumpled photographic fragments. A candle printed on the paper creates a landscape with hands and bodies suggesting fetishism. The images are objects that reflect the snobbery deep inside us today, and the landscape of the ghosts (images) remaining once the dismantled people and objects have vanished unfold. This direction seems to express the landscape in the mind that is freed from the density and gravity of everyday life. It is a landscape and space impossible in reality. The space created through a process that resembles how an editorial designer would work is both a drawing made with glue and scissors and an architecture. In this manner, the artist unburdens the original nature and weight of all objects, neutralizing them into a lightness without a care for gravity.
