Ahn Doojin

Ahn Doojin has been depicting landscapes of the unreal or surreal world for a long time. The red-colored landscape seems to peek into a different dimension of the world created by an ominous worldview. An ill omen, like thunder, lightning, and a gust of wind, wraps around the entire screen, like the day of reckoning is soon to come with an impending final war. In this exhibition, the artist gradually moves from a gigantic screen to a very small one, while, at the same time, painting a unique unrealistic landscape of a process of a large rock eventually turning into a small stone. The world turns frantically with all kinds of commotion and chaos, but the rock sits silently on its root in its place. The only things that change are time and the beholder. Taking the viewpoint of a rock, as opposed to that of a person, is neither ominous nor uncomfortable. The reality of the rock lies in eternity and permanence. It is a surreal world where eternity and fleeting time are possible at the same time.
